In modern Western numerology, the Life Path number is often the first number people calculate. Use the complete birth date, including all four digits of the year. Reduce the month, day, and year separately by adding their digits until each part becomes a single digit. Then add those three results and reduce the total. If the final total is 11, 22, or 33, many numerologists keep it as a master number rather than reducing it again.
Example: December 28, 1992
Month: 1 + 2 = 3
Day: 2 + 8 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1
Year: 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 21, then 2 + 1 = 3

Life Path 7Some schools add every digit in the date in one continuous line. That often produces the same result, but not always when master numbers are involved. Separate reduction makes the process easier to audit and keeps the treatment of month, day, and year visible.
