Zodiacal releasing divides a life timeline into nested sign periods from the Lots of Fortune or Spirit, creating a symbolic chronology rather than a guaranteed event schedule.
Zodiacal releasing is a Hellenistic astrology timing technique that starts from a calculated lot and assigns successive periods to zodiac signs. The Lot of Spirit is commonly used for action, direction, and vocation; the Lot of Fortune is commonly used for bodily circumstances and conditions received. Each sign receives the traditional years of its ruling planet, and each large period can be divided into smaller periods by the same sequence.
The method is often described as releasing from the bonds because the sequence unfolds sign by sign from the starting lot. It can organize long and short chapters for comparison with a natal chart, but it does not prove that a career peak, illness, marriage, loss, or public event will occur. Accurate birth time, a declared lot formula, transparent dates, and actual evidence matter more than dramatic labels.

Calculate Fortune or Spirit before timing
Determine whether the Sun is above or below the local horizon, convert all positions to continuous zodiacal longitude, calculate the lot, and identify its sign. Zodiacal releasing ordinarily starts from the sign, not the exact degree. A wrong birth time can change the Ascendant, sect near sunrise or sunset, house context, and both lots. How Level 2 subdivisions work
Inside the Libra Level 1 period, Level 2 also begins with Libra and proceeds through Scorpio, Sagittarius, and the remaining signs. The planetary-year numbers are scaled down so all Level 2 periods fit inside the larger chapter. Level 3 repeats the same nested logic within a selected Level 2 period. More levels add date precision but also increase the risk of fitting noise, so begin with Level 1 and Level 2.
Peak periods and angular signs
Many practitioners call the signs angular from the starting lot sign peak periods. If Spirit is in Libra, Libra, Capricorn, Aries, and Cancer are angular by sign relationship. Activation of one of those signs can mark stronger emphasis within the chronology, especially when the same sign or ruler repeats across levels. Peak does not mean good, famous, successful, or catastrophic. It means the technique gives the period more structural emphasis.

Bring the active ruler back to the natal chart
